Murtha's more Kerry...
than Kerry:
Best
one-liner of the day:
"Murtha was for it before he was against it
before he was for it"
– Diana Irey campaign
below is the article we found on the Irey campaign website:
(MONONGAHELA, August 7) -- Washington
County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican
Congressional nominee Diana Irey
today released the following statement:
"Today Jack Murtha SAYS he's in favor
of a minimum wage increase. Yet when he had the opportunity, on July
29 -- just NINE DAYS AGO! -- he voted AGAINST it.
"So I guess that means he was against
it before he was for it.
"But on June 27, his office put out a
press release saying he was FOR it.
"So he SAID he was FOR it, then VOTED
AGAINST it, and now SAYS he's FOR it again.
"So ... he was for it before he was
against it before he was for it.
"This 'pay attention to what I say, not
what I do' act is getting old.
"The good news is, there are 92 days
left in this campaign, and that's plenty of time to make sure the
voters of the 12th District know just who Jack Murtha really is."
BootMurtha.com
would like to add that Murtha was also for immediate withdrawal
of troops from Iraq (his
Nov. 17, 2005 Resolution)
before he was against the immediate withdrawal of troops
from Iraq (Murtha then 180'd and
voted against his own Resolution)
before he was for the immediate withdrawal of troops from
Iraq. (see Jan 2006 Code Pink award acceptance photo on right.)
Murtha's Dodge
The hypocrisy and double standards of U.S. Rep. John Murtha were
revealed again on July 24 in an article headlined, "Murtha renews call
for Iraq pullout deadline." He forgets it's not New Hampshire he
represents.
Regarding the Iraq war, Portsmouth state Rep. Terie Norelli, a
Democrat, stated, "At least we are having this conversation." She
projects upon the Republicans the very fault Murtha has actually
demonstrated over and over again, falsely stating that "Republicans
don't want to have the conversation." Murtha is talking about Iraq --
more precisely about America's surrender.
Remember, just as Murtha emboldened Islamic terrorists when he
unwisely urged President Clinton to surrender and leave Somalia in
1993, so too does his current rhetoric embolden terrorists.
Murtha feared open debate with his Republican challenger, Bill Choby,
during the last several elections. In 2002, he cowered in the shadows
and would not debate then U.S. Rep. Frank Mascara, a Democrat, who was
pitted against Murtha in the primary after the legislature's
reapportionment.
For political survival, Murtha hides behind his defeatist-surrender
because of [*see NOTE below] sycophants, kid-gloved media and
inept, pork-dependent state and county Republicans. The press has a
responsibility to demand Murtha debate his Republican opponent Diana
Irey of Washington County.

BootMurtha.com and requested these two words be struck from his
letter. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review added them, apparently in error,
as they did not appear in Mr. Salsgiver's original letter to the Trib.
Permission to print corrected letter on BootMurtha.com has been

[NOTE: BootMurtha.com received the
following letter to the editor, written by Bill Ferguson. Ferguson's
son served in the same Marines unit as the 'Haditha Marines.' Ferguson
lives in Nevada. Harry Reid is his state senator.]
Father of 'Haditha unit'
Marine stonewalled
by Reid, Murtha
" My son served in the 3/1 Marines based in Haditha,
Iraq from 9/05 through 4/06.... I have asked my local
Congressman and Senate Minority Leader Reid to get a response from
Murtha. Both have been told that Murtha will not respond because I do
not live in District 12, hence he owes me nothing. My Congressman
replies "...that's just the way Washington works!" "
My son served in the 3/1 Marines based in Haditha, Iraq from 9/05
through 4/06. By inference, Murtha has called my son a murderer.
All Marines in the 3/1 feel as betrayed as does Sgt. Wuterich.
But why does Murtha make such reckless comments in the first place?
Does Murtha think his dislike for the terrorist conditions in Iraq can
be worn as a badge of courage in his pursuit of political gain? If he
does, he should start by releasing his full military record so we can
see the record on which he proclaims he stands. Why does he refuse
to release his record? Must be something in there that he doesn't
want the public to see, don't you think? Those who served with him at
the time think so, and so should all who are accepting Murtha's word
that he is a hero. There's more to be learned, but we'll likely never
discover what he's hiding.
For those of who have had their brave off-spring defend freedom, we
feel betrayed by Murtha. Almost all of those who have served in the
Corps consider Murtha to be a traitor.
I feel just as compelled as Sgt. Wuterich that we are owed an apology
or explanation by Murtha. I have asked my local Congressman and
Senate Minority Leader Reid to get a response from Murtha. Both have
been told that Murtha will not respond because I do not live in
District 12, hence he owes me nothing. My Congressman replies
"...that's just the way Washington works!" No member of the 3/1 is
from the East, as it is a Camp Pendleton-based battalion comprised of
Western USA citizens.
So, where do we go from here? We support the activities to support
Commissioner Irey in her campaign to redeploy Murtha and the
bootmurtha.com efforts, and wish Sgt. Wuterich the very best in his
Federal law suit.
The citizens of the 12th District deserve better than Murtha and the
3/1 Marines deserve the respect of the nation for the service they
have bravely performed to further Freedom. And, yes, my son came home
with a real Purple Heart for injuries suffered when a grenade exploded
behind him and flung him across the street and left shrapnel in his
hip and thigh.
Respectfully,

FreeRepublic thread comment, courtesy 'Tarheel':
"If Reid was smart (if is the operable word) he would meet with the
dad and the Marine --shake hands, photo op time and thank him for his
service for five minutes or so. This would help with some of the
'sting' that some of these Marines are suffering. Instead the
stonewalling attitude is only getting him bad press and emphasizing
his lack of compassion and caring."
Does Murtha have TDD?
Murtha's Truth deficit disorder
A letter to the editor published in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review says
Congressman John Murtha suffers from T.D.D. – Truth Deficit Disorder:
[Excerpts:]
Murtha claimed that U.S. Marines committed "cold-blooded" murder
even before they were tried by a court. I find it nice to see him
parade a veteran who was wounded in a training exercise (who many
think was wounded in combat) such as Cleland, who thankfully was
soundly defeated by Saxby Chambliss.
I used to be a Republican supporter of Jack Murtha before he began
suffering from truth deficit disorder, which seems to affect many
Democrats who spend far too much time in Washington.
