4th of July Letter from jailed Haditha
Marines:
Pray for the men and women fighting in Iraq
They are eight Marines -- held in eight separate cells in Camp
Pendleton's brig --
yet they are one in heart: "Pray for the men and women fighting in
Iraq."
Their simple, one-page, handwritten letter is scrawled on notebook
paper and bears the signatures of all eight Marines: Sgt. Hutchins,
Cpl. Trent D. Thomas, Cpl. Marshall Magincalda, HM3 Melson Bacos, LCpl.
Robert Pennington, LCpl. Tyler Jackson, Pfc. John Jodka and LCpl.
Jerry Shumate Jr.
Pray for the men and women fighting in Iraq...
But in their isolation, how could these eight Marines have
accomplished such a feat?
"They couldn't write it together," said Camp Pendleton spokesman 1st
Lt. Esteban Vickers. "But family members are allowed to meet with
them, and if the family did something like that, it's probably
possible."
Here is their message:
Dear Americans,
There are no words to describe our solemn thanks to all of our
sincere supporters. To know that there are people out there praying
for us is a surreal feeling in which there is no comparison. On this
upcoming 4th of July weekend we ask that your prayers are rooted
solely to the men and woman (sic) fighting in Iraq. Regardless of our
current disposition, we stand here safe and sound. It's those men and
women who are still making the ultimate sacrifice lying (sic) their
lives down for the country. To those of you who have had loved ones
who have made that sacrifice know that we feel your pain first hand
and understand that though they may never come back, they will never
be forgotten. Once again, thank you for your support, and God Bless
America.
--Sgt. Hutchins, Cpl. Trent D. Thomas, Cpl. Marshall Magincalda,
HM3 Melson Bacos, LCpl. Robert Pennington, LCpl. Tyler Jackson, Pfc.
John Jodka and LCpl. Jerry Shumate Jr.

Murtha Damage Control Time
In something reminiscent of ABSCAM, Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) for past
few days has been reminding the power brokers in his 12th
Congressional District where the money came from... his beneficence.
He is making it clear: (1. His power in Washington, D.C. turns up as
largesse in the 12th Congressional District (2. Remember where
the money came from (3. Put money in my coffers because I've got
to cover for my mistakes.
What are Murtha's mistakes?
·
Telling untruths about the very military that, like Sen.
John Kerry, he has traded off of to get into office in the first
place.
·
Telling the untruth that the military is 'worn-out,'
'washed up' and 'demoralized.'
·
Making the statement that Marines are guilty of
cold-blooded murder even before they are legally tried and judged.
Murtha's would-be Majority Leader, would-be President of the United
States delusional sense of grandeur has caught up with him. His
website took down its own online poll... the one that showed an
overwhelming disapproval of his call to withdraw US troops from Iraq.

Rep. John Murtha is losing support back home in Pennsylvania. The
following PA news articles and reports show the trail of Rep. John
Murtha during this 4th of July holiday:

Murtha's scam...
John Murtha would have Pennsylvania's District 12 believe he's good
for business and economic activity in his district. But the truth is
Murtha is one of the worst congressmen for creating economic
activity for any district in America.
FACTS*:
·
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)
ranks Murtha: in the low 17 percentile in 2003-2004 -- which means
Murtha kills off small businesses that create the bulk of jobs in
America.
·
When it comes to allowing people to have their own money
in their pocket, the Nation Taxpayers Union ranks Murtha in the low 21
percentile in 2005 -- making Murtha one of the worst
tax-and-spend congressmen in Congress.
It is time that Murtha's deceptions and misleading statements come to
an end. That is why we must BOOT MURTHA and redeploy him back to the
Pennsylvania 12th.
Murtha disagrees... with himself!
From time to time Murtha Update will highlight one of the many salient
John Murtha quotes (we have compiled several of these on our
Murtha-Speak page). This Update's quote:
[From Rep. John Murtha's 2004 book "From Vietnam to 9/11"]
... Murtha advocates that the U.S. should not pull-out prematurely or
create a timetable, stating: “An untimely exit could rapidly
devolve into a civil war, which would leave America’s foreign policy
in disarray as countries question not only America’s judgment but its
perseverance.”
Pennsylvania Guardsmen: Murtha wrong
Guardsmen from the Richland, Pennsylvania-based 876th Engineering
Battalion, Company C, are back home in Pennsylvania after spending a
year in Iraq. In an interview with the Tribune-Democrat printed on
July 4th two Guardsmen -- Sgt. Terry Noel and Sgt. Shawn Lucas—express
disagreement with their Congressman, Rep. John Murtha: [LINK

[EXCERPT]:
While they were away, U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Johnstown, spoke out
against the Bush administration’s war policies and called for a swift
withdrawal of the troops.
Lucas said he doesn’t answer to Murtha, but rather to Gov. Ed Rendell,
who agreed to allow the state Guard to fight in Iraq.
“Once (that happens), we’re on federal orders,” he said.
“I doesn’t really matter what Murtha wants.”
And Noel said he doesn’t agree with Murtha. Success in Iraq, he said,
will come when the country’s army is ready.
