Boot Murtha launches its 2nd Mission:
STOP THE LIES
One of the smartest things I have done in the
“Boot Murtha” campaign was to speak with Roger Hughes, Chairman of
Iowa Presidential Watch PAC about combining forces. To my relief,
he agreed, and he is now my political guru. I’m deferring to him on
all consequential matters.
Roger has an inimitable way of analyzing all
the elements of a political campaign, and he is particular adept at
advising when and how to advertise. I totally support his advice on
how to respond to the “puff piece” that he refers to. Murtha doesn’t
have to pay, and we do, but I agree with Roger that we need to bite
the bullet and hit ‘em with everything we have in the same newspaper.
Thank you.
Larry Bailey,
US Navy (Ret.)
President,
Vets for the Truth
Hughes' message:
The Boot Murtha operation has been humbled by and is grateful for the
financial support all of you have given to our efforts. You, the
supporters of Vets for the Truth / Boot Murtha, have asked us to get
on with responding to the puff piece that ran last Sunday (July 16th)
in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, entitled “Murtha Commands Respect.”
We are going to do just that.
In fact, someone has already contributed $2,500 toward the $12,500
required to run a full-page statewide ad of response in the Pittsburgh
Tribune-Review.
Our ad will remind all of Pennsylvania that Rep. John Murtha doesn’t
and shouldn’t receive respect from his constituents -- or Pennsylvania
in general. No one who believes in this country and the sacrifices of
its men and women in our armed services can respect the turncoat
statements Murtha has made in convicting our service personnel in Iraq
before a trial.
Our ad will also highlight Murtha's record -- from Somalia to Bosnia
to Iraq -- of urging this country to “Cut-‘n’-Run.” His dangerous
foreign policy advice and votes have left the field to Osama bin
Laden.
Bin Laden stated it was because of “Cut ‘n’ Run” policies like
Murtha’s in Somalia that it became clear to him America was weak and
that al Qaeda's next step was to attack America directly.
However, as bad as Murtha is on national defense (and he is bad
despite what you read), there are other reasons not to respect him.
That is, unless you are from Murtha’s friend Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s
district! Murtha's opposition to securing our borders and getting
control of our illegal immigration problem is a national security
issue.
The other issue that certainly should cause Pennsylvanians to not
respect Murtha is the fact that he continues to support penalizing
and taxing married couples.
NO, Pennsylvania, you should not respect Rep. Murtha!
However, we cannot expect the media in Pennsylvania to tell the truth.
NO, ladies and gentlemen--if we want the truth to be told, we
are going to have to tell it.
This is why we are here so soon after the great job you did in
providing the funds we needed to mail the veterans in Murtha's
District 12. We are here because some of you told us to keep after
this and you want to help.
So, here we are with our hat in our hand and saying, "We will fight on
as hard and as fast as you enable us to do so!"
We are at your mercy, generosity and capability to support our
efforts. We thank you for all that you have done, are doing and for
what you are still to do in support of this battle that we feel
compelled to fight.

Murtha plans to mug Irey
We always knew Rep. John Murtha was no gentleman, but now we've found
out that he's also a mugger.
That's right, a mugger.
Murtha has hired a private investigator to dig up dirt on his District
12 Republican opponent, Diana Irey, so he can politically mug her.
From the article in the
Washington Observer-Reporter:
A private investigator working for the campaign of U.S. Rep. John
Murtha has been collecting information about his opponent in the
congressional race, Washington County Commissioner Diana L. Irey....
... Asked if the investigation goes beyond the public record, Irey
said, "That's the rumor," and claimed that the Murtha campaign has
previously looked into other opponents' pasts.
Challenger Irey indicated her campaign is not reciprocating in-kind:
"We have not hired a private investigator," Irey said.

Murtha award
All was not rosy at Rep. John Murtha's award ceremony Thursday at the
Hyatt Regency in
Washington, D.C., where protestors from the Washington, D.C. chapter
of
Free Republic gathered to 'FReep' Murtha for his
anti-troops, cut and run foreign policy statements.
Murtha was there to receive the 2006 Edmund S. Muskie Distinguished
Public Service Award from the Center for National Policy. Below is an
excerpt from the FReepers' report:
The luncheon was scheduled to end at 1:30, but Murtha didn't come
out until around 1:45 after many others had left. To his credit, he
came out the front door where we could see and jeer him.
However,
he avoided making eye contact throughout the prolonged encounter.
The moment he came though the hotel door, we loudly chanted, "Cut
and run! Benedict Murtha! Cut and Run! Benedict Murtha!"
We kept it up as his car pulled next to us and got stuck in traffic
as it tried to leave the driveway. Murtha continued to avert his eyes,
but a female staffer in the back of the car started blowing kisses at
us.
The Free Republic protestors carried signs that read, "Redeploy John Murtha," "John
Cut-N-Run Murtha," "U.S. Soldiers National Treasure; John Murtha
National Disgrace." Other signs mocked Murtha for his "We can't win"
statements and "in cold blood" pre-trial judgment of eight fellow
Marines.
[EXCERPT from
CNS News story:]
...while Murtha received a warm welcome at the lunchtime event, a
small group of protestors collected outside.
"We came out here because Congressman Jack Murtha was getting an award
for distinguished public service, and we think that his service to our
country in the past few years has been anything but distinguished,"
Kristinn Taylor, an organizer of the protest, told Cybercast News
Service.
Taylor, co-leader of the District of Columbia chapter of the
conservative FreeRepublic.com, criticized Murtha over "the way he's
been stabbing our troops in the back and undermining morale with his
anti-Iraq war stance and his over-the-top rhetoric."
"For a Vietnam veteran, he ought to know better than to do to this
generation of troops in combat what his Democratic Party did to the
men and women serving in Vietnam -- undermining their morale, giving
aid and comfort to the enemy and telling them they can't win," he
said.
Murtha speech mouths
same toothless story
Rep. John Murtha gave a speech Thursday, declaring continued U.S.
presence in Iraq helps potential enemies. How ironic.... it's
elected officials like Murtha that help our enemies. His continued
calls to cut and run from Iraq demoralize our troops and fuel our
enemies onward in the War on Terror.
As a comment on a
Free Republic forum thread today noted:
Murtha: US Staying in Iraq Helps Potential Enemies
US: Murtha Staying in Congress Helps Potential Enemies
Another comment on the thread offered this visual opinion of Murtha:

Murtha's speech said little that was new. It consisted mainly of talk
points from the failed Resolution he sponsored in Congress last
November 2005.... A resolution that called for immediate redeployment
of U.S. Troops from Iraq... A resolution MURTHA HIMSELF VOTED AGAINST.
Below are some quotes from Murtha's speech, excerpted from the
report on CNSNews.com:
"Who wants us in Iraq? North Korea, Iran, China, Russia and al
Qaeda,"
"...as a nation, we are distracted, and as a world superpower,
we're depleting our resources."
"Our ability to project power to protect Americans wherever and
whenever necessary is no longer at the level necessary to ensure
success,"
"Because of the war in Iraq, our military is over-committed,
stretched thin..."
"This is longer than the involvement in the Korean War, and soon
will be longer than our participation in World War II."
"Our military is now considered occupiers..."
Semper
"I" Murtha evading responsibility
Below is an e-mail received by BootMurtha.com from a Marines father.
His son serves in the same unit as the eight Marines accused by Murtha
of "killing innocent Iraqi civilians in cold blood"... a judgment
former Marine Murtha publicly spoke prior to any trial.
I am the proud father of a 3/1 Marine... the ones whom Murtha has
called murderers.
I asked my local Congressman to contact Murtha's office and get an
apology or identify the sources that Murtha has to make such an
implication. They have been advised that Murtha will not reply as I
do not live in his district, and my Congressman says that's pretty
much how Congress works. Isn't that disgraceful?
So, I went to one of our Senators - Harry Reid, Senate Minority
leader - the reply I got from his office was Reid's position on
Haditha, the site of the supposed murdering of innocents in Iraq.
Some response, eh?
Now, Reid's office has told me they are going to try to get a reply
from Murtha, but they've told me not to expect a response from
Murtha. Again, a disgrace that one can call Marines who are in a
combat situation, murderers, but Murtha has no conscience or morals,
so not surprising.
Murtha's PA office doesn't return calls, and his DC office has
caller ID and does not answer my calls.
Too bad we can't get the relationship between he and his brother
exposed to the same extent that the Delay - Abramoff situation got
exposed.
Thanks for the good work on exposing Murtha as a low-life,
undeserving of any elected position.
