The protest at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena, which attracted
close to 1,000 people, was organized ``to show that our total support
for the troops is there,'' said rally organizer Harry Beam, a Vietnam
veteran.

That's right, "Swift Boat." Veterans for Truth – some of the same guys
that went after John Kerry's military record in 2004 – is back.
This time, they are gunning for Murtha – who is up for re-election –
by questioning his military record and his character.

continues their fine tradition of ‘Can’t Believe Stories’ with yet
another false report. They wrongly identify our group as Swift Boat
Veterans for Truth… we are Vets for the Truth, an entirely different
organization. Somebody must’ve let Dan Rather back in to write this

David Beamer labeled U.S. Rep. John Murtha’s suggestion that America
give up the fight in Iraq as “ridiculous” Sunday while attending a
rally in Johnstown. Beamer’s son Todd was one of the heroes on Flight
93 that crashed into a field near Shanksville, Somerset County, Sept.
11, 2001.
…Beamer lashed out at Murtha’s criticism of American troops, his
release on his Web site of vital information that revealed some of the
weaknesses of the American military and his suggestion several months
ago that America “redeploy” its troops from Iraq.
“The enemy will see this for what it is. ... Redeployment means
defeat,” Beamer said.
“Does it require another battle in Shanksville?” Beamer asked as he
wondered aloud what it will take for America to become united in the
war on terrorism.
He said Murtha wants to “chat up” the enemy, go hat-in-hand to Osama
bin Laden, but he said if you go hat-in-hand, “you better be prepared
to leave with your head in your hat in your hand.”.

Sunday afternoon.
Johnstown city police were called to keep the crowd under control, but

Larry Bailey might have been outranked -- but he wasn't intimidated --
by the retired generals who appeared Saturday at a rally in Johnstown
to support U.S. Rep. John Murtha's re-election bid.
"I think the importance is spelled with a capital 'I,'" said Bailey,
who was a captain and former commander of the Special Surface Warfare
School that trains Navy SEALS. "They're scared to death." >>>read

I attended the Boot
Murtha rally against Congressman John P. Murtha in
Johnstown, PA today, and wanted to give a wrap-up for those of you
that could not make it. …
… most notable was the line-up of speakers. Murtha had
professional politicians such as General Wesley Clark, Max Cleland and
Bob Kerrey at his rally yesterday. These are individuals with no stake
in this fight. The Veterans for Truth had men whose sons have died in
Iraq, the father of one of the Pendleton 8 who Congressman Murtha has
accused of killing innocent civilians in cold blood, a survivor of the
attack on the World Trade Center, and the father of a hero that died
on United Flight 93 on 9/11. Unlike Murtha's speakers, these are
people who were deeply and personally affected by 9/11 and the War in
Iraq, and they are united in their calls for Murtha to be ousted. The
contrast could not be more clear…”
