RE your
article: "Crowd
rallies to 'Boot Murtha'"
You have
written:
"None of the servicemen have been charged but
Murtha, after military officials
briefed him, said they were guilty of murder."
"after
military officials briefed him" ? This is absolutely false.
Murtha
identified Gen. Michael Hagee as his briefing source [see
Phil
Inquirer article].
Hagee says he did not brief Murtha until a full week after
Murtha's May 17, 2006 pronouncement of guilt.
This was
widely reported in major media reports last August. [see
Reuters article]
Your article
gives a false impression of the context of Murtha's May 17th statement
-- the timing of briefings -- and undermines the true gravity of
Murtha's entirely premature, hyping condemnation of these Marines.
The voters in
Congressman John Murtha's congressional district 12 deserve to know
the truth.
Especially from a Pennsylvania, state-level newspaper.
